And then, as swiftly as it started, it ends. They lay down, exhausted from the sprinting, and recooperate a bit.
I feel like I've been frapping, myself, for a while now. I've been running and running, except that instead of torn-up carpeting, I've left unfinished projects, date nights with my husband, sleep, and the ability to remember what I did even last week in my wake. While I am proud of everything I was able to do "here" this past year, I'm looking forward in 2013 to finding out what I can do everywhere else in my life. Can I merge what I love doing and what I can make a living doing? Maybe. Can I find a better balance between my laptop and my life? I hope so. Can I see some of my "real life" friends more than twice a year? Goodness, I hope so.
And so, I'm going to take Billy's lead and just lay down for a while, bloggily speaking. In order to do that, I'll be putting this blog into a
(For those trying to read between the lines, nothing is "wrong", but thank you for being concerned. And yeah, I built all of that momentum with #GiveAllTheThings last month, and now it will lay down for a nice nap. That's just how I roll.)
My wish is that your new year is off to a wonderful start, and that you, too, will take the steps you need to in order to be as healthy and happy as you can be. We all deserve the chance at better balance.
Good for you for knowing when to give yourself a breather! By the way, I love the phrase "bloggily speaking"...20 years from now you could be famous for coining it. ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Kim!
Enjoy the rest!
ReplyDeleteAfter a hectic Nov/Dec for your blog, I don't blame you!!
ReplyDeleteBoy do I resemble this and I'm not even remotely as involved and active as you are! You do amazing stuff. Kudos for taking time for yourself. See you in the funny papers!
ReplyDeleteOh boy do I understand Corgi frapping. My house is frapped from frapping. My corgi fraps all over the place. Haha that sounds funny. Anyway, enjoy some much needed rest, rejuvenation and meditation.
ReplyDeleteLike Like LOVE! I fully support frapping and breathers-- especially the breathers. I myself, bloggily speaking, have been on a breather for months now... and it is a-o-k. Take it easy, friend! :)
ReplyDeleteWell earned and totally deserved break. Take the time you need.
ReplyDeleteI am still laughing at "maximum derp." A phrase I've never heard before, but accurately describes a lot of my day, the majority of the week.
ReplyDeleteWe'll be here when you're ready. xo
Could you please have Six Until Me announce when you are back up? i'll still check, but just incase I miss it. Thank you. I have really enjoyed your blog. It's meant a lot to share the Beast with you.
ReplyDeleteRest, refresh, recharge!
ReplyDeleteSounds like an overdue break is just what you need. You will be missed, but I'm happy for you just the same.
ReplyDeleteHave fun! Hope to see you back soon... but (you know) when you're ready. :^)
ReplyDeleteYou've more than earned a rest, my friend. Enjoy life with a few less electronic distractions. Go on a date or five with that sweet hubby of yours & laugh yourself silly at that cute dog of yours. Have fun! ♥♥♥♥♥♥
ReplyDeleteI kind of hope you're not checking these comments, but good for you! You've earned it!
ReplyDeleteMy Golden Doodle does the same thing! We thought she was psycho! lol!
ReplyDeleteI used to have a cat we called Tearor because she tore the house up and would have these "terrors" where she would jump up, sprint down the hallway, and throw herself against a wall. But then she got out and was eaten by a coyote.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your break!
You deserve a break.... we'll all be here when you get back, no worries! ;) PS- My dream job would have something to do with diabetes. If I get to stay home after these babies are born in a couple of months (yikes!), I hope to be able to find something part-time someplace, doing something advocacy-related. We'll see. Everything happens for a reason, and when/if it's supposed to happen. :)
ReplyDeleteomg that max derp 'shop is AMAZING!!!
ReplyDeleteas were your past several weeks of blogging that i've just caught up on! #giveallthethings was a max frap if you ask me. you certainly deserve a break today (at mcdonalds) (hello 80s commercials).
A break is good! Seriously it did wonders for me, and allows me to take a breathe of something else besides D. I mean its always here but doesn't have to be every part of everything we enjoy.
ReplyDeleteI love that word--"frap." Describes me and my habits so well. I guess I should have announced my blog's 4-week Christmas break "nap": I had meant to blog over the holidays and then got home and forgot that I even owned a computer. I needed the internet fast, though, as much as I needed the extra sleep. Hope your blog nap has been refreshing.
